Rebel With A Cause...

My name is Maura Ingraham and I am one of the founders of Kare Kits Inc., an ISO certified medical device manufacturer with the exclusive North American rights to the GLYDE line of certified vegan latex condoms.  So, what's an activist sex-positive neo hippie chick who owns a condom company in Vancouver and is making her first million doing hanging out with The Sex Party?  I thought you'd never ask...

I've known party leader John Ince for many years in the sex-positive community, he's one of the local movers and shakers that challenges society's views on healthy human sexuality. He attracts other activists with similar agendas (hence, how he and I met) and the high-level discussions we all participate in are some of the most fascinating conversations I've had in my life.

In the early days of my sexual health company I produced a sex-positive radio talk show out at the UBC campus, called Primal.  I interviewed John when his book, The Politics of Lust, was published, when he put together his law-challenging live erotic performance piece, Public Sex, Art, and Democracy, and when he founded The Sex Party during the last election.  Over the years an interesting friendship based on mutual interest and activism has developed between us.

When John showed up at the Vancouver Society for Sexuality, Gender, and Culture monthly meeting in February, he announced that he wanted The Sex Party to run in the upcoming provincial election but that he needed a minimum of three candidates or it wasn't going to happen.  With all the great changes that need to happen for Canada to become more sex-positive, The Sex Party has a lot of work to do.  That's when my sweetheart and business partner, Dietrich Pajonk, stepped up and pledged his commitment.

So here I am, standing by my man, doing what I can to help him and The Sex Party create social change in Canada.  I invite you to join us!

To borrow the slogan from The Sex Party, "Sex is good. Let's make it better!"
